Hello 2013!

Christmas is over.
My handmade things all got done in time!
New Years Eve has come and gone.  We had a blast first with family then with friends later in the evening.
My house is relatively clean, and JP is gearing up to return to preschool.
The routine is snapping back into place.

One thing that needs to be added to the existing routine is more "take care of me" time.  I need to take time to get moving a little each day.  I really want to start running again, but the whole gallbladder business has left me as heavy as i was right before Sweet Z entered the world.  Y.I.K.E.S.

So, for now, I'm starting slow.  Making the time every day to get off my bum.

I just downloaded a bunch of demos on the kinect, like Zumba and Biggest Loser.

I'm also committing to myself to write more, both here and at my knitting blog.  I  have designed a few things that I need to get down on paper so they can be shared with all who desire to make them.

For now... I need more coffee.

This might get graphic...

Guys, yesterday was a bad day. Not very many of you knew it, but I was scheduled for a uterine ablation. I was excited at the prospect of not having a period anymore. (Yes, I'm talking about periods. Gross. Moving on.)  They have gotten pretty rough, not letting me do a 90 minute swim without having to stop and change my tampon. I am crampy and uncomfortable the majority of the month. This , among other things, is less than convenient. So, yeah, I was looking forward to surgery. My husband brings me into the surgery center, I get prepped, they take me back, I go night night. I wake up... "We were unable to complete the procedure" No one was willing to go into too many details, as I was coming out of general anesthesia, and still kind of in and out. I remember talking briefly with the doc, but no one else. A nurse came to take me to recovery. She got me into the big chair in the recovery room. I began to cry. She covered me up, and held me while I ugly cried. She han...

Graduation.

My first weekend as a stay at home mommy wasn't filled with cleaning as I imagined. Sure, I did the everyday stuff... Dishes, laundry. I also got the kids together for my baby brother's graduation party. He's 11 years younger than I, and he just graduated from highschool last month. I couldn't be more proud of him! It was pretty neat being kind of a second mom to him growing up. He taught me a lot about the way kids work. We shared a room for the first 5 years of his life and he was always at my heels. Whenever I was studying for a test he was there next to me, asking questions about the text I had my nose in that day. He was the first kid I babysat for on a regular basis. Playing video games with him taught me to let the little guy win every now and again... Eventually. This was after I would mercilessly beat the crap out of his character. He has never let me forget it, and always asks if I want to play whatever new game he has just acquired and mastered. Today ...

Turning over a new leaf

So... as of the 26th of October, I am gallbladderless. Seriously, that organ can suck it... she was no friend of mine. The aftermath has been an eye opening situation.  I feel tons better than I really should days after surgery.  Needless to say, I am finding out what my limitations are very quickly.  I cannot carry laundry baskets.  I cannot walk thru Michaels for yarn then survive the rest of the day without a nap. I also can't hang out with my daughter alone for 3 hours without requiring a nap. I kind of feel like a really old lady.... that is awesome and not nauseous and can eat whatever the hell she wants! I'm trying not to get too excited about getting back to running, and just concentrating on feeling better. The recovery process has also held some sadness.  I finally realized how bad I had been feeling on a daily basis... how sick I had become over the course of a year.  A dear friend told me before my surgery, "You have a rotting organ insid...
